  • 11/2023: Brinton published his first paper to MDPI Nanomaterial. You can find the paper here. It was on the affects of the thicknesses of both the shell and gap layer of a Au@SiO2@Au Nanomatryoshka. Many lab members were a part of the writing and research process of this paper, so congratulations to Brinton and all those who helped!
  • 08/2023: Christopher Litle published his first paper titled Comparison of Linear and Ring Polymers Partitioning into Pores Using Random Walks and Self-Avoiding Walks Models". Congratulations to him and we wish him well in medical school!
  • 04/2023: Saghar and Hossain presented their research at annual student research forum on campus. Saghar presented project on data mining of integrins as cancer biomarkers, and Hossain presented project on characterizing conformational landscape of the disordered proteins. Saghar has won the 1st place and Hossain has won the 2nd place, both under "Physical and Applied Science" graduate presentations. Congratulations to both of them!
  • 02/2023: Saghar received a travel award from MCBIOS (stands for Mid-south Computational Biology and Bioinformatics Society) to attend MCBIOS-2023 at Dallas, Texas in March. She will present recent research from our group "Integrin expression signatures associated with tumor progressions and metastasis". She was also selected as the final four of young research scientist awards at the graduate student level. Congratulations, Saghar!
  • 02/2023: We are saddened to hear the news of our dear friend, Dr. Dusan Berek, who passed away in June, 2022. Dr. Wang wrote a memoir to remember him.

  • 07/2021: We are awarded a collaborative grant between University of Memphis and Meharry Medical school. Our collaborator at Meharry Medical school is Dr. Zhenbang Chen who is an expert in prostate cancer. The collaborative grant focus on how to develop integrins based molecular biomarkers for cancer metastasis detections.

  • 03/2021: Jim's paper, "Insights on the Coupling of Plasmonic Nanoparticles from Near-Field Spectra Determined via Discrete Dipole Approximations" has been accepted and published in J. phys. Chem. C.
  • Spring 2020: Our collaborative research effort with Dr. Huang, Dr. Thang in physics and Dr. Hongmei Zhang in public health, received NIH R15 grant from National Cancer Institute. This is a three-year award to support the development of a single vesicle technology with surface enhanced Raman scattering imaging to profile surface protein markers on single exosomes. The method will be further applied to discover exosomal biomarkers for breast cancer diagnostics at different stages.

  • 05/2019: Dr. Wang, along with other investigators organized an ACS symposium on "Polymer based gene and drug delivery".
  • 11/2018: Dr. Wang, along with other co-editors, edited a book on "Recent Progress in the Separation of Macromolecules and Particulates" and it is now published online at ACS Symposium Book website . You can read the preface of the book here.

  • 04/2018: Dr. Wang received 2018 Alumni Association Distinguished Research Award in Science, Engineering and Mathematics. This award was given to UoM faculty member who has made outstanding research contribution in Science, Engineering and Mathematics area.
  • 11/2017: We welcome Shweta Bhardwaj joining our group. Shweta obtained her Ph.D.in chemistry from International Institute of Information Technology, India. Her Ph.D work was on gold nanoclusters and nanoparticles their enhanced catalytic and Raman scattering. She will continue her research in this area focusing on computational studies.
